In my time at Apple, I created a 3D icon model and guidelines to be used across store and marketing content, including an internal tool for teams across the org to craft icons for any usage.

The Work

Concepting

Iterations made to define the 3D shape using the 2D rounded square as a base. The beveled edges are in communication with Apple devices, and UV mapping assures no image warping.

Usage

A few examples of the 3D icons being used across the App Store.

Tool

I developed a tool to be used internally at Apple for other designers and teams to quickly export images using icons of their choice. Positioning, lighting, and texture is all editable.
